I’m officially impressed

Recently a coworker told me about Sandy, aka iwantsandy.com. It’s a nifty (and free!) email-based personal assistant. You sign up, get an email address to send to, and you can send her notes like

Remember that I lent the Killer Klowns from Outer Space DVD to mom

or

Remind me on Monday to take out the garbage

and she’ll send you reminders and remember stuff for you. Slick, right? Today another coworker told me about Jott. It’s a free (while it’s in beta) service that takes voice messages from you and turns them into email messages and reminders. Well, Sandy is one of the web sites you can Jott directly, so I’m all wired. It’s really easy to set up.

I just gave Jott the acid test. Using the speakerphone at home (just to make it harder, I sent it the speech recognition acid test. And here’s what it sent back:

Sent with my voice via Jott:
It’s hard to wreck a nice beach.

Wow.

Britain Death Watch

This sort of nonsense has been going on for years in Britain. But here’s yet another example of the police siding with the hoodlums instead of the victims.

For more than two years, Sydney Davis’s house has been under siege from youths throwing stones.

After two hours of bombardment in the latest attack and no sign of the police, the 65-year-old retired builder decided enough was enough.

As a particularly large missile landed in his kitchen, he grabbed a plank of wood from the garden and ran towards the gang to scare them away.

The police arrived just in time – to arrest Mr Davis for possession of an offensive weapon.

The stone-throwers are referred to as just “youths”. Makes me suspicious. What sort of youths are known to attack people in Wiltshire? (Three guesses.)

the Maverick is moving to the right.

This is encouraging. More of this and McCain may actually start to sound like a Republican.

But I’m not holding my breath.

Michael Ramirez actually won. Who was asleep at the wheel at the Pulitzers?

If you think you understand Quantum Mechanics

then maybe you understand Barak Obama.

Perhaps that explains the cracks appearing in his base.

I think Bo Snerdley gets it.

Update:

Watch out for that posse.

Still doubt that Iran is at war with us?

Word from the inside should erase all doubt.

It is not an exaggeration to claim that the radicals belonging to the secretive society called “Hojjatieh,” who are devoted to the 12th Imam, have taken control of all vital positions in Iran. Ayatollah Janati, the head of the Guardian Council in charge of interpreting the constitution, supervising elections, and approving of candidates running for public office, has been very vocal about his opposition to the West: “We are anti-American and we are America’s enemy,” and “Non-Muslims are animals roaming the planet.” They believe that the 12th Imam supports their agenda of obtaining nuclear weapons and destroying Israel in order to start the chaos necessary for the final destruction of what they see as American imperialism and Israeli Zionism.

These apocalyptic believers in the “12th Imam” are the dangerous lunatic fringe of a dangerous, lunatic religion. They are in charge of Iran. And they are pursuing nukes.

To kill you.
