Moral Equivalency Watch

Raymond Ibrahim looks at the comparitive violence of Judaism and Christianity vs. Islam. It’s an interesting read, and its conclusion not a surprise. Seems to me, though, to ignore the basic point: So-called moral equivalency arguments of this type are tu quoque fallacies.

No matter how bloody or brutal Judaism or Christianity may or may not have been in the past, nothing justifies the brutal violence of jihadists today. It’s the kind of argument one can expect on a school yard among nine year olds. “Tommy did it first!”
