Apparently mistaking pranks for crimes is rampant all over the country. This time it’s not sharia, at least. No, it’s just another object lesson in the real crime of letting government run schools.
The principal, vice-principal, cops and district attorney should all be fired for this. But they won’t be.
Well, the citizens of McMinnville can sleep easy knowing that there is so little crime there that the cops have nothing better to do.
When a story like this fails to identify the perp by name or give a description, it used to mean it was someone of a protected race. Now it more likely means his name was Mohammed. Sure, it could turn out to be a disgruntled Bubba. But holding back info just makes me suspicious.
Meanwhile, some fruitbats are voluntarily removing themselves from the gene pool. And Seattle finally has a good idea.
I see no downside. Let’s hope these ideas catch on.

I cannot disagree with a word of his latest on Slate.
This has to stop, and it has to stop right now. There can be no concession to sharia in the United States. When will we see someone detained, or even cautioned, for advocating the burning of books in the name of God? If the police are honestly interested in this sort of “hate crime,” I can help them identify those who spent much of last year uttering physical threats against the republication in this country of some Danish cartoons. In default of impartial prosecution, we have to insist that Muslims take their chance of being upset, just as we who do not subscribe to their arrogant certainties are revolted every day by the hideous behavior of the parties of God.

I’ve received an email from Stanislav Shmulevich, who has been arrested in New York for putting a Koran in a toilet at Pace University. And his case is even more outrageous than we first reported.
First, Shmulevich was arrested and jailed for 24 hours. Second, he’s not facing misdemeanor charges—he’s being charged with two felonies, criminal mischief and aggravated harassment.
Felonies. For putting a book in a toilet.

Biomass energy will eat up too much land and agriculture will generate too much pollution with a poor ratio of Energy Return On Energy Invested (EROEI). Synthetically created photovoltaic materials will convert sunlight to energy far more efficiently than plants can manage. This fact might one day enable nanobots to outcompete DNA-based life. But for the foreseeable future the use of photovoltaics instead of biomass energy will protect nature.
Once we figure out a way to cart the energy for our electric motors with us – something that works better and weighs less than batteries – lots of interesting possibilites open up. I’ve ridden in a prototype of one (and will beg my coworker for a ride when he gets his) and even aircraft could get in on the fun.
In any case, biomass fuels, especially ethanol from corn, are a massively stupid idea (unless you happen to raise corn). Already this idiocy is playing havoc with the economy of Mexico. Even if it didn’t cost more oil to produce ethanol than the oil that’s replaced by it it would be dumb.

Published to cricket-chirping silence in the Federal Register on April 13, 2007 was a rule proposed by the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) to govern the manufacture, transport, and distribution of explosives.
The Alice-in-Wonderland aspect is that the rule includes small arms ammunition and reloading components like smokeless propellant and small arms primers in its definition of “explosives.” If the rule were implemented as written, it would effectively eliminate the manufacture, transport, wholesaling and retailing of ammunition in the United States.

As with the Battle for Mosul, which I held in near monopoly for about five months during 2005, the most interesting parts of the Battle for Baqubah are unfolding after the major fighting ends. But as the guns cool, the media stops raining and starts evaporating, or begins making only short visits of a week or so.
The big news on the streets today is that the people of Baqubah are generally ecstatic, although many hold in reserve a serious concern that we will abandon them again. For many Iraqis, we have morphed from being invaders to occupiers to members of a tribe. I call it the “al Ameriki tribe,” or “tribe America.”
There’s also a horrifying description of what al Qaeda used to do to families there. These guys really are sub-human. May they all soon be dead.

Get it? He has no substance because he’s not campaigning yet.
In an interview with Sean Hannity he said he deliberately hasn’t started campaigning because campaigns are too long, it’s too easy to get your message out via new media, and because he “didn’t want to play their game.” So here’s the MSM banging its spoon on the high chair because he won’t play their game.
They’re obviously terrified. Wonderful.
He must be completely off of it to have allowed this to happen.

They display the same honor, courage and commitment for liberating their country as we do to keep ours’ safe. We’ve been up and down mountain after mountain and in countless fire-fights and ambushes with these soldiers, and we have fought through each one of them side by side and have always come out victorious. They do not know how to quit, and there is no doubt in my mind that if the entire Afghan Army displays the same dedication that this company does, Afghanistan will be in control of its own destiny soon enough.
But what does he know? He’s not an elite reporter or Democrat congressman.
